Victorious Misbah disappointed by Windies' downfall

Although Pakistan have clinched a three-match Test series against West Indies 2-0, Misbah-ul-Haq has expressed his disappointment at the downfall of the once formidable Caribbean side.

Pakistan secured a crushing 133-run win over West Indies on the fifth day of the second Test in Abu Dhabi which followed a comfortable 56-run win in Dubai.

Misbah admitted that he was delighted after Abu Dhabi victory secured Test series, but added that West Indies' downfall was 'a big disappointment'.

"That's bit disappointing and if you see their strength in international cricket they were always a force but now they are having a downfall," Misbah was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

It was West Indies' 19th defeat in their past 29 Test matches, having won only four and drawn the remaining six since November 2013.

The current Caribbean side are in total contrast to the formidable West Indies team of the 1980s, when under the captaincy of Clive Lloyd they had gone undefeated in 27 Tests.

"Everyone wants to see a strong West Indies side like we had in the past. Right now it's really a big disappointing factor for all of their fans," the 42-year-old added.

Misbah, however, believes that there are some players in the current young Caribbean side who are performing well in bits and pieces.

"They are a young side with some players performing well in bits and pieces at the moment. They will become a good side but at the moment they are lacking experience," said Misbah, who recently equalled the legendary Imran Khan's record of most Tests as captain with 48.

Pakistan are currently standing at number two in the Test rankings behind India, while West Indies are languishing down to eighth.

The Jason Holder-led side now face the prospect of a whitewash in the Tests, with the third and final match starting in Sharjah from Sunday.
