Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has claimed that he only has himself to blame for him being dropped from the World Cup XI, but indicated that he would improve himself and would be ready to go if an opportunity comes along.
Watson has not been in his best form that led to him getting dropped from the World Cup XI, and most likely having his Test place thrown into jeopardy as well.
Watson knew that he was always at the mercy of selectors while ever he failed to score runs and the veteran's ODI axing is likely to have a direct impact on his place as Test number three and first-choice all-rounder, News.com.aureported.
Fitness allowing, Mitchell Marsh looks set to take over as the number one all-rounder, and if Steven Smith can fire as ODI number three there's no reason why he can't assume that responsibility as well.
It could well be the end of the road for him, but Watson said on that he still believes he has more to offer. He said that all he can do is make sure that he is ready to go if any opportunity arises, adding that he knows that he hasn't scored enough runs.
Watson claimed that he knows that he has had plenty of opportunities, so he admitted that he has only got himself to blame.
The all-rounder said that there are things he has made adjustments on even before he got dropped to try and continue to improve and give himself a better chance to score runs and perform, claiming that he is always trying to get better and learn, so that's all he can do.
Watson is confident that he could still play part in the World Cup, insisting that he believes in himself and his own abilities. He said that if an opportunity comes along, he would be ready to go.
