Veteran Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has said that his side is keen to inflict pain on India in the series opening Test in Adelaide with their aggressive brand of cricket.

Watson, who claimed that it had been a mentally challenging time getting back to cricket after the tragic passing of their teammate Phillip Hughes, has warned the tourists to expect a fired-up Australian team in Tuesday's first Test.

The all-rounder claimed that the Australians were still bristling from their 4-0 series hammering in India last year and were keen for revenge in the four-match series at home, Sport24 reported.

Watson said that they have played their best cricket when they are aggressive with bat and ball and that's been ever since he has been around the Australian cricket team.

He claimed that it is especially like they were with the ball in the last Ashes series against England. He added that there's no doubt that's not going to change because that's when they are at their absolute best.

Watson admitted that India hammered Australia in their conditions last year so the hosts certainly have a lot to give back to the tourists in their conditions.

Watson claimed that India certainly let them know that they were on top of Australia in that series and added that his side needs to start off very well and stay strong through the series to make sure the tourists feel a similar pain to what they felt over in India.

The Adelaide Test is being played against the backdrop of the heart-wrenching passing of Hughes, who never regained consciousness after being struck by a bouncer during a domestic game in Sydney last month, the report added.
