Castigating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his recent 'loot bhoomi' barb in Uttarakhand, the Congress on Monday dared the former to launch an investigation against the grand old party with every possible resource in his arsenal.

Congress Spokesperson Sandeep Dixit said if the Prime Minister knew that the so called 'loot' is happening in Uttarakhand, then why did he not take any action against the state government?

"The Prime Minister has been using such cheap language from past many days. Next I would like to say, you are the Prime Minister if you think that Congress did corruption then you have the Police, the CBI and everything by your side, initiate an investigation against us," said Dixit.

"If you knew that loot is happening in Uttarakhand then why did you not take any action in the past two and half years. Why is all of it coming out at times of elections? This is nothing but a political stunt," he added.

Slamming the Congress, Prime Minister Modi yesterday while rallying in Uttarakhand said the party had turned the 'dev-boomi' of Uttarakhand into a 'loot-bhoomi'.

"Those who were appointed to a position of power did not lose the opportunity to make personal gains. They were caught red-handed on camera. They've turned this dev-bhoomi into loot-bhoomi," said PM Modi.

Referring to a sting operation in which Chief Minister Harish Rawat was allegedly seen offering bribes to party MLAs for their support in a crucial floor-test in the Uttarakhand Assembly the Prime Minister said, "Those who cannot think well of the people here, how can they govern?"

Uttarakhand goes to polls on February 15.
