Three women's right associations have expressed their disappointment over the release orders of paralympic star Oscar Pistorius, who was convicted for killing his girlfriend, but the former, however, said that they respect the decision given by court.
ANC Women's League spokesperson Thoko Xasawe said that they hope Pistorius would come out as a better person, insisting that he should advocate for women related issues,Sport24 reported.
While other association namely Sonke Gender Justice (SGJ) also expressed their views on release of Reeva Steenkamp's killer.
SGJ spokesperson Mbuyiselo Botha believes that Pistorius might have learnt to control his anger in jail.
The Progressive Women's Movement of SA (PWMSA) convenor Jacqui Mofokeng revealed that he wanted Pistorius to face more serious charge of murder.
He admitted that the parole board acted prematurely when they decided to release Pistorius in August.
The 28-year-old, who was earlier sentenced to a five-year jail in 2014 ,will be put under house arrest following his release from the jail.
The department of correctional services said that Pistorius would be required to undergo psychotherapy and would also be subjected to firearms prohibitions.
Meanwhile, prosecutors are calling on a panel of judges at the country's Supreme Court to overrule a decision by another judge to acquit Pistorius of murder charges. A state appeal against Pistorius' murder acquittal will be heard in November.
If prosecutors succeed in their appeal against the culpable homicide conviction in the Supreme Court of Appeal and have it upgraded to murder, Pistorius would face a minimum of 15 years in jail.
