In order to encourage youth of the north east to join the armed forces and increase their presence, recruitment rallies and awareness programmes are frequently being organized in the region.
Recently, a large number of youth eagerly participated in the 'Know Your Army' recruitment rallies in Tripura and Assam, where they got a chance to learn about the working of the armed forces and their technological strength.
These young boys and girls said they were keen to take part in the recruitment drives organised jointly by the army and the Assam Rifles in Agartala.
Students and NCC cadets came out in large numbers to witness the demonstrations on the usage of different weapons and equipments by the security personnel.
Besides highlighting the defense capabilities of the army, the event also aimed at educating the youngsters about the prospects of joining security forces in order to channelize their potential in the right direction.
A musical drill was also performed during the exhibition to entertain the children.
Susmita Kar, an NCC Cadet, said "This is a great opportunity for the youths to know about the army. It will not only motivate them but also convince their parents to know what are the advantages of joining the army and will help in joining the Indian Army."
Aditya, a student, "I really felt good to see so many new things. Till now, I had only used such arms in video games but now I have got the feeling of the real arms. Now I want to join the army and serve my motherland."
A similar arms exhibition rally organized at the Jorhat stadium in Assam was also attended by a large number of students and locals.
The fair exhibited various infantry weapons, machine guns, long range mortars, equipments and state-of-the-art communication equipments used by the Special Forces.
The youngsters were excited to learn about the various weapons and equipments used by the army. They expressed an interest to join the armed forces.
Ronip Das, a student, "This is quite an exciting exhibition. There are many kinds of artilleries, arms and ammunitions. Here we can see the power of the Indian Army which protects our borders from different infiltrates and terrorists."
Ritesh Borah, another student, "After seeing this, I think that after growing up I will join the Indian Army and protect the nation. All the stuff here is really cool and the youngsters should come and see because they are all very interesting."
Besides making people aware about the capabilities of the security forces, such events help in encouraging youngsters to join the armed forces.
