Zimbabwe leaves Pak in shock with opening ODI win

Zimbabwe left Pakistan in shock after recording their first one-day win over the country since 1998, in the opening ODI match at Harare Sports Club on Tuesday

According to Sport24, chasing 245 in the first one-day international of a three-match series on Tuesday, Hamilton Masakadza (85) and an unbeaten 39 from Sean Williams led Zimbabwe to win by seven wickets with 10 balls to spare.

Although Pakistan Test and one-day captain Misbah-ul-Haq held the innings together in his 50th consecutive ODI as Pakistan captain, he, however, lamented his decision to bat first, saying that he misread the pitch as even though it looked like it was going to be slow in the second innings, it did the reverse and played better in that innings.

However, Misbah commended the Zimbabwe side, saying that they deserved the win, as they played well and comfortably without any panic in their batting line-up, adding that they even played better than his men.

According to the report, Misbah finished unbeaten on 83 and shared in a 99-run stand for the third wicket with Mohammad Hafeez, who made 70, but with Pakistan's middle and lower order failing to fire, they could only manage 244 for seven.

The two sides meet again at the same venue on Thursday, the report added.
