Czech automobile major Skoda Auto that unveiled the 2013 Octavia in India earlier this month is all set to bring in the saloon in festive month October, our trusted sources reveal. The company has however unveiled the product already, didn't announce the pricing, which we believe will only be disclosed near launch. The Laura which replaced the Octavia in 2010 will also be sold alongside the later. The new Skoda Octavia is built on the parent company Volkswagen's new MQB platform on which Audi A3 and VW Golf too are based.
The new platform helped the new Octavia to get 90mm longer and 45mm wider than the Laura, making it more spacious and comfortable than ever. And if rumours are to be believed, despite being bigger in dimensions, the new Skoda Octavia is likely to be priced more competitive than the existing Laura; however, there is no official confirmation yet on the same. The new Octavia also has the new Skoda Logo, which will be seen on the upcoming Skoda models.
The engine options that the new Octavia will carry are a 1.8-litre TSI petrol, a 2.0-litre TDI and probably the 1.4-litre TSI, which also sports VW Jetta. The 1.4-litre TSI powered version will be the base variant. When it comes to design, the 2013 Skoda Octavia is more up-market with the improved plastic quality, better fit and finish, much better dashboard and many more. While in terms of safety, the Octavia has been offered with some of the most advanced features including ABS, lane assistance, fatigue detection system, adaptive cruise control, nine airbgas, intelligent light assistant and traffic sign recognition. The 2013 Skoda Octavia will also be the first Skoda to get daytime running LEDs.
This is all what we have for now, stay tuned to carDekho for all the latest updates on the same. Cheers!
