Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) marks an overall growth of 18 per cent in the festive month of October. The Japanese giant has sold 13,242 units last month compared to 11,214 units in same period previous year. Moreover, Honda India has sold 1 lac units in the current financial year during April – October 2014 witnessing a growth of 43 per cent compared to corresponding period last year. Adding on the model wise breakdown - Honda sold, 5,120 units of City, 2,985 units of Mobilio, 1,584 units of Brio, 3,482 units of Amaze and 71 units of CR-V.
Expressing delight at achieving 1 lac unit sales Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “ We have clocked excellent sales during the year so far where all our products have received tremendous response.” He further added, “Starting November, the Tapukara plant will start operations in the second shift, thereby, ensuring better availability of the Honda City. This will also see full capacity utilization of Tapukara plant.”
Tapukara plant starts second shift
The production of City was shifted from the Greater Noida’s plant to the Honda’s new manufacturing facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The production was halted for the month of August and started again from September but now, Honda has started second shift in the plant to increase City’s production and to reduce the mounting waiting period. City was doing around 7K plus units before the production shifted and the sedan is gradually gaining pace again.
