Renault seems to change the current MPV scenario with Lodgy’s clever packaging
The French automaker will launch its debutant MPV - Lodgy tomorrow, while bookings for the same have already started with a down payment of Rs. 50,000. The Lodgy will pit against the sales cruncher - Toyota Innova along with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio as its arch rivals. Pricing of the new Lodgy are expected to undercut the ones of Innova while the 85 PS version will also help it to tackle Ertiga’s lower price tag.
Speaking of the clever packaging, it features a wheelbase of 2810 mm - exceeding that of the Innova’s 2750 mm, Ertiga’s 2740 mm and Mobilio’s 2652 mm. Making Lodgy one of the most spacious MPV in the country. Apart from this, Lodgy is also the most powerful MPV in its class, powered by Renault’s 1.5-litre K9K dCi diesel engine delivering power in two states of tune - 110 PS and 85 PS, similar to that of Duster.
Figures - 110PS - 118 bhp @ 4000 rpm and 245 Nm of max twist @ 1750, mated to 6-speed manual box; 85 PS - 84 bhp @ 3750 rpm and 200 Nm @ 1750 rpm, mated to 5-speed manual box. Renault claims best in class performance figures too with a 0-100 km/h time in 12 seconds and it max out 170 kmph.
