Volvo S90 grabs prestigious Production Car Design of the Year 2015

Volvo S90 premium sedan has been voted as the Production Car Design of the Year 2015. The vehicle was first revealed in December last year and grabbed instant attention of the car enthusiasts with its sleek & stylish design and rich features. The award was deduced by a panel of professional car designers across the globe and presented by Car Design News which is considered as one of the top authorities of automotive design awards. The jury consists of 18 top car designers from companies like Bentley, McLaren, Daimler and Ferrari. 

“Our use of high-end materials, classic proportions and controlled surfacing reflects our intention to forge our own path. We don’t want to fit in, we want to stand out,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President, Design, at Volvo Car Group.

The new s90 sedan was picked up from the list of 20 strong contenders. The vehicle received admiration for its authentic use of materials, timeless design and great proportions. In recent times, Volvo has emerged as one of the best premium automakers, implementing key design elements and exclusive features in their cars and S90 sedan is a sheer example of that. 

Talking about the mechanicals, S90 is powered by T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid engine that musters 394HP. India will also be getting this premium sedan by the year of this year. When launched, it will lock horns with Audi A6, Mercedes Benz E-Class and BMW 5-series in the segment.   Commenting of the award, Car Design News editor Owen Ready said that the S90 was recognised “for its priority of clear, calm design over the ‘styling entertainment’ that has been plaguing the industry for too long”.
