Berger Paints India leads gainers in 'A' group

Paints and varnishes maker Berger Paints India rose 4.23% to Rs 192.20. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group. The stock hit a record high of Rs 193.90 in intraday today, 5 February 2013. The company's consolidated net profit rose 56.4% to Rs 76.80 crore on 17.4% increase in net sales to Rs 917.10 crore in Q3 December 2012 over Q3 December 2011. The result was announced on Saturday, 2 February 2013.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries rose 4.06% to Rs 747.30 after the company said the US health regulator has approved a generic version of the cancer drug Doxil. The announcement was before trading hours today, 5 February 2013. The stock was second biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries said that US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has granted the company's subsidiary an approval for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for generic version of Doxil, Doxorubicin HCl Liposome Injection USP, 2 mg/mL, packaged in 20 mg/10 mL and 50 mg/25 mL single-use vials. This generic Doxorubicin HCl Liposome injection USP, 2 mg/mL is therapeutically equivalent to Doxil Liposome Injection, 2 mg/mL of Janssen Research and Development, LLC. Doxorubicin HCl liposome injection is used to treat patients with ovarian cancer that has progressed or recurred after platinum-based chemotherapy. The company will announce Q3 results on 8 February 2013.

Wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy rose 3.04% to Rs 25.45. The stock was third biggest gainer in 'A' group. The company will announce Q3 results on 14 February 2013.

Biotechnology major Biocon rose 2.75% to Rs 281.85. The stock was fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Ambuja Cements rose 2.47% to Rs 201.55. The stock was fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group. The company will announce its year ended December 2012 results on 7 February 2013.
