Carborundum Universal starts commercial production of enhanced capacity at Sriperumbudur facility

Carborundum Universal announced that the company's Abrasives division at Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu which manufactures Coated Abrasives at an existing installed capacity of 15 million sq. mtr. per annum having a capacity utilization of over 90% has today commenced commercial production with an additional capacity of 15 million sq. mtr. per annum. With this, the total capacity of Coated Abrasives at the Sriperumbudur facility now stands at 30 million sq. mtr. per annum.

Further, additional capacity has been installed at an investment of about Rs. 480 million. The investment has been funded entirely from internal accruals. The capacity addition was undertaken to augment the existing coated abrasives facility with a state of the art maker process and equipment which will also cater to the growing market demand for coated products domestically and internationally.
