Shares of five Chennai-based companies and firms with significant presence in Tamil Nadu fell by 0.43% to 4.74% at 15:11 IST on BSE as large scale floods paralysed operations across many companies.
Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 22.10 points or 0.08% at 26,147.31.
Shares of IT major Infosys fell 1.46% at Rs 1,060.95. The stock hit a high of Rs 1,082 and a low of Rs 1,058.45 so far during the day.
Shares of automobile firm Ashok Leyland lost 0.43% at Rs 92.95. The stock hit a high of Rs 93.95 and a low of Rs 92.10 so far during the day. Ashok Leyland's Ennore plant in Chennai accounts for 40% of its production, as per media reports.
Shares of TVS Motor Company lost 4.74% at Rs 289.60 after the company announced that incessant rains for the past three weeks in Chennai have had an adverse impact on the company's production in November 2015. The company suffered a loss of approximately 15,000 units due to the inclement weather, TVS Motor Company said at the time of announcement of sales volume data for November 2015 after market hours yesterday, 1 December 2015. The company reported 2.43% growth in total sales to 2.25 lakh units in November 2015 over November 2014.
Chennai Petroleum Corporation (CPCL) fell 0.84% at Rs 201.65. The stock hit a high of Rs 205.95 and a low of Rs 198.25 so far during the day.
India Cements fell 1.88% at Rs 88.95. The stock hit a high of Rs 91 and a low of Rs 87.10 so far during the day.
Incessant rain in Chennai and many parts of Tamil Nadu over the last 2-3 days has thrown life out of gear and created a flood like situation in many areas.
