Nifty October 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

The October 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8720, premium of 22.40 points compared with Nifty's closing of 8697.60 in the cash market. The Nifty November 2016 futures traded at 8759.65, a premium of 62.05 points compared with the spot closing for the index.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment dropped to Rs 2.51 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 5.51 lakh crore registered yesterday, 6 October 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty fell 11.95 points or 0.14% to settle at 8,697.60, its lowest closing level since 30 September 2016.

Tata Steel, Aurobindo Pharma, Tata Motors, Sun TV Network and State Bank of India were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Tata Steel October 2016 futures traded at 408.45, at a premium compared with spot closing of 407.20. Aurobindo Pharma October 2016 futures traded at 859.95, at a premium compared with spot closing of 855.40. Tata Motors October 2016 futures traded at 566.20, at a premium compared with spot closing of 565.

Sun TV Network October 2016 futures traded at 561.90, at a premium compared with spot closing of 558.70. State Bank of India October 2016 futures traded at 258.90, at a premium compared with spot closing of 258.

The October 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 27 October 2016. The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 24 November 2016.
