Turnover on NSE's F&O segment jumps

Nifty December 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

The Nifty December 2016 futures traded at 8530, a premium of 98 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8432 in the cash market. The November 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8478.75, a premium of 46.75 points compared with the Nifty's closing in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment jumped to Rs 7.82 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 2.63 lakh crore registered on Tuesday, 8 November 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index lost 111.55 points or 1.31% to settle at 8,432, its lowest closing level since 8 July 2016.

ICICI Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), Vedanta, Tata Motors and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (Sun Pharma) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. ICICI Bank November 2016 futures traded at 282.65, near spot closing of 282.50. SBI November 2016 futures traded at 261.20, near spot closing of 260.80. Vedanta November 2016 futures traded at 217.40, at a slight discount compared wtih spot closing of 217.75.

Tata Motors November 2016 futures traded at 536.90, at a premium over spot closing of 534.20. Sun Pharma November 2016 futures traded at 667, near spot closing of 666.

The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 24 November 2016. The December 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 December 2016.
