Nifty December 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price
The Nifty December 2016 futures traded at 8613, a premium of 69.45 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8543.55 in the cash market. The November 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8564.20, a premium of 20.65 points compared with the Nifty's closing in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment increased to Rs 2.63 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 2.13 lakh crore registered on Monday, 7 November 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 46.50 points or 0.55% to settle at 8,543.55, its highest closing level since 1 November 2016.
Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Vedanta, Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) and Hindalco Industries (Hindalco) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Tata Motors November 2016 futures traded at 539, near spot closing of 538.50. ICICI Bank November 2016 futures traded at 284.60, near spot closing of 283.40. Vedanta November 2016 futures traded at 220.40, near spot closing of 220.25.
Bhel November 2016 futures traded at 143.40, near spot closing of 142.70. Hindalco November 2016 futures traded at 168.10, near spot closing of 167.60.
The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 24 November 2016. The December 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 December 2016.
