Nifty November 2016 futures at premium to spot price

The Nifty November 2016 futures traded at 8,654.20, a premium of 38.95 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,615.25 in the cash market. The October 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,611.50, at a small discount of 3.75 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,615.25 in the cash market.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment surged to Rs 6.20 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 4.62 lakh crore registered yesterday, 25 October 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index fell 76.05 points or 0.88% to settle at 8,615.25, its lowest closing level since 17 October 2016.

Axis Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), ICICI Bank, ITC and Tata Steel were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Axis Bank October 2016 futures traded at 485, at a discount compared with spot closing of 485.25. SBI October 2016 futures traded at 257.50, near spot closing of 257. ICICI Bank October 2016 futures traded at 279.05, near spot closing of 278.65.

ITC October 2016 futures traded at 238.90, matching with spot closing of 238.90. Tata Steel October 2016 futures traded at 393.50, at a premium compared with spot closing of 392.90.

The October 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire tomorrow, 27 October 2016. The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 24 November 2016.
