Turnover on NSE's F&O segment rises
The October 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,723, at a small premium of 14.05 compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,708.95 in the cash market. The Nifty November 2016 futures traded at 8,766.75, a premium of 57.80 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 3.76 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 3.26 lakh crore registered on Friday, 21 October 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 15.90 points or 0.18% to settle at 8,708.95, its highest closing level since 6 October 2016.
State Bank of India (SBI), ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI October 2016 futures traded at 263.10, near spot closing of 262.80. ICICI Bank October 2016 futures traded at 284.25, at a slight discount compared with spot closing of 284.50. Tata Motors October 2016 futures traded at 559.05, near spot closing of 558.30.
HDFC Bank October 2016 futures traded at 1,267.50, at a premium over spot closing of 1,265. Axis Bank October 2016 futures traded at 522.60, at a premium compared with spot closing of 521.80.
The October 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 27 October 2016. The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 24 November 2016.
