Volumes jump at Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers counter

Thermax, VST Industries, Kaveri Seed Company and Bata India are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 23 April 2014.

Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers (MCF) clocked volume of 24.46 lakh shares by 13:38 IST on BSE, a 110.42-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 22,000 shares. The stock surged 11.7% to Rs 69.20.

SCM Soilfert together with Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals (DFP) as persons acting in concert (PAC) today, 23 April 2014, announced an open offer to acquire 26% stake from the public shareholders of MCF. The open offer is for acquiring up to 3.08 crore fully paid up equity shares of MCF, constituting 26% of the voting share capital. The offer price is Rs 61.75 per share.

Thermax notched up volume of 1.02 lakh shares, a 34.67-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 3,000 shares. The stock lost 1.19% at Rs 745.

VST Industries saw volume of 81,000 shares, a 22.91-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 4,000 shares. The stock jumped 5.85% at Rs 1885.

Kaveri Seed Company clocked volume of 81,000 shares, a 10.61-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 8,000 shares. The stock rose 1.1% at Rs 622.10.

Bata India saw volume of 83,000 shares, a 9.45-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 9,000 shares. The stock rose 2.5% at Rs 1083.
