10 Sri Lankan fishermen held by Indian Coast Guard

The Indian Coast Guard Tuesday said it had apprehended ten Sri Lankan fishermen and their two boats in August and handed them to Tamil Nadu Police.

In a statement issued here, the Coast Guard said its ship Viswast, while on patrol, apprehended a Sri Lankan fishing boat Aug 31 with five crew members and 155 kg fish catch.

The Lankan fishermen and their boat were handed over to Tamil Nadu police Sep 2.

In another instance, the Coast Guard Aug 21, apprehended a Sri Lankan fishing boat with five crew members and handed them to local police Aug 24.
