At least 11 people were drowned as a boat capsized off the Greek island of Farmakonissi, the country's coast guard said on Wednesday.
The boat carried refugees and migrants from Turkey, Xinhua quoted an official as saying.
The victims included five children, the official said.
A total of 15 people were rescued while two remain missing.
About 750,000 refugees and migrants have reached Greece since the beginning of 2015, according to figures given by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organisation for Migration.
Over 200 have drowned in the Aegean and over 90,000 have been rescued.
