13 killed, 26 injured in Iraq attacks

At least 13 people were killed and 26 wounded Tuesday in a separate bomb attacks in Iraq, while militants blew up an oil pipeline, halting oil exports, police and officials said.

Five people were killed and 14 injured when a car bomb went off near a Shiite mosque during afternoon prayer in Madain town, some 30 km from Baghdad, reported Xinhua citing a police officer.

While a policeman was killed and two were injured in Anbar province when another car bomb struck a police convoy in Ramadi city, some 110 km from Baghdad, a provincial police source said.

Earlier in the day, the police said seven people were killed and 10 wounded in separate bomb attacks targeting Iraqi security forces in central Iraq.

Meanwhile, militants bombed a major oil pipeline in Nineveh province, halting the country's oil exports to the port of Ceyhan, southeastern Mediterranean coast of Turkey, said an official from state-run North Oil Company (NOC).

Teams from NOC were working to repair the damage, which was expected to take up to three days, the official added.

On Monday, 30 people were killed and 104 injured in separate bomb attacks in Baghdad, two of them targeting a cafe and a vegetable market.

The UN Assistance Mission for Iraq recently reported over 1,000 Iraqis were killed and more than 2,300 wounded in acts of terrorism and violence in July, the deadliest month in over five years.
