At least 14 people drowned as a boat carrying migrants capsized near western Turkish coast of Canakkale on Wednesday, local Dogan News Agency reported.

A wooden boat carrying migrants to the Greek island of Lesbos sank in a storm off Canakkale, the report said, adding that 27 people were rescued. However, there was no immediate information on their nationalities.

About 400,000 refugees have illegally entered Greece via Turkey in 2015, but more than 3,000, mostly Syrians, have lost their lives in boat accidents across the Aegean Sea.
