At least 15 people were killed and 16 others injured in a suicide attack on a wedding party in Iraq's Karbala province, an official said on Monday.
The attack occurred late Sunday night when a suicide bomber opened fire and threw hand grenades on the wedding party in Ayn-Tamur town and then detonated his explosive vest, Xinhua news agency reported.
Four other militants wearing explosive vests opened fire on the crowd but security forces shot them dead before they could detonate their bombs, the official said.
Town authorities have intensified security measures as reinforcement troops arrived from Karbala city, located 110 km from the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
No group has claimed responsibility for the bloody attack.
