The Nepal government is preparing to station approximately 155,000 security personnel for safe and peaceful conduct of the Nov 19 constituent assembly elections.

Around 50,000 security personnel from the Nepal Police, and 20,000 from the Armed Police Force would be deployed on the ground, reports Xinhua.

Additionally, 45,000 Nepal Army troops will play a crucial role in ensuring the security of the electoral booths and polling stations.

Also, 40,000 individuals will be hired as temporary police to prevent any lapse in security.

On Wednesday, top leaders of Nepal's four major parties met the Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi and Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire, urging them to come up with a "firm security plan" for the election.

"We are working hard to conduct the election in a free and fearless manner. The security arrangements are a tool to achieve our target," Uddab Bhattarai, a home ministry official said.

Nepal is conducting its second constituent assembly (CA) elections after five years, following the failure of the first CA to frame a republican constitution for the former Hindu monarchy.
