The AITA National Series Under-16 tennis tournament for the RT Narayan Memorial Cup, to be held here Dec 9-15, has attracted 198 entries with 128 in the boys section and 70 in the girls category.
Announcing this at the launch of the tournament here Wednesday by Kannada cine actor and Member of Parliament Ramya, Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association secretary CS Sunder Raju said the boys' main draw has a field of 64 with 48 direct entries, eight qualifiers and eight wild cards while the girls' main draw consists of 48 players, including 34 direct entries, eight qualifiers and six wild cards.
The National Series is the second highest-level tournament for junior players after the National championship. The winners collect 75 points and runner-up earns 50 while semi-finalists and quarter-finalists receive 40 and 30, respectively.
Leading the pack will be National under-16 champion BR Nikshep from Karnataka, who is also ranked No.1 in his category.
