At least two people were killed and 65 others injured when a magnitude 7.3 earthquake hit just off the southern coast of Peru on Sunday, sparking tsunami fears.
The head of the National Civil Defence Institute, Jorge Chavez, told a radio station that the two deaths were reported in the districts of Yauca and Bella Union, while the injured were in the provinces of Caraveli and Nazca, Efe news agency reported.
According to the US Geological Survey, the quake struck at a depth of 36.3 km and no tsunami alert has been activated so far.
The temblor was felt in the capital Lima and several other cities across the country.
