At least 24 kg of cannabis was seized by the Border Security Force (BSF) from a bamboo orchard in West Bengal's Nadia district, an official said on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip off, the BSF troopers of Meghna outpost conducted a special search operation on Tuesday afternoon and recovered the cannabis near the International Border.

"The BSF recovered 24 kg cannabis wrapped in six plastic packets in a gunny bag on Tuesday. The seized cannabis has been handed over to customs Jalangi," Deputy Inspector General of BSF's South Bengal frontier, R.P.S. Jaswal, said in a statement.

The south Bengal frontier of BSF has seized a total of 489 kg cannabis and arrested three Indian and two Bangladeshi smugglers so far this year.
