At least 25 people were killed Wednesday in a bomb explosion in the northern Nigerian city of Kaduna, police said.
The bomb exploded in the city centre and targeted moderate Islamic cleric Dahiru Bauchi who was travelling in the area, BBC reported citing police.
Bauchi reportedly escaped unhurt.
Meanwhile, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Bauchi had completed a preaching session in the nearby Murtala Muhammed square, and his convoy was passing through the area when the blast occurred, the report said.
Kaduna, around 160 km north of country's capital Abuja, is the state capital of the northwestern state of Kaduna.
On June 26, 19 people were killed in a bomb attack that rocked Wuse area of Abuja.
Hundreds of people have been killed in the last three months in many village attacks across three states in the northeastern region of Nigeria by the Boko Haram, an outlawed sect, which has proved to be a major security threat to the West African country since 2009.
