At least 39 people were killed on Sunday in airstrikes and clashes in Iraq's Anbar province.

US-led coalition airstrikes pounded three Islamic State (IS) targets in Albu Haiyat area, killing 18 IS militants, a security source told Xinhua news agency.

In a separate incident, a suicide bomber detonated his explosives-laden vehicle at a security forces position near the provincial capital Ramadi.

At least eight security personnel were killed and 15 others injured.

A fierce clash erupted between security forces and IS militants at a village near the militant-seized town of Garma, which resulted in the killing of seven security personnel and six militants, the source added.
