Police in Bangladesh on Monday charged 42 people in connection with the collapse of a building in 2013 in which more than 1,100 people lost their lives, a media report said.
The charges against the accused, who include owner of the building Sohel Rana, include murder, bdnews24.com reported citing investigating officer Bijay Krishna Kar.
Rana and 18 others have also been accused of violating the building code, the report said.
The chargesheets were submitted to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court on Monday.
In one of the worst industrial disasters in Bangladesh, the Rana Plaza building in Savar area of Dhaka collapsed on April 24, 2013. The building housed five garment factories. According to officials, 1,135 people, mostly factory workers, died in the collapse.
At least 2,458 people were rescued from the rubble.
