Former Brazil striker Adriano has been charged for his alleged involvement with drug traffickers here.
Public prosecutors claimed the 32-year-old bought a motorcycle for a notorious drug dealer in the Vila Cruzeiro shantytown, north of Rio, reports Xinhua.
A judge will decide whether to proceed with a criminal case against the former Inter Milan and Roma forward.
Adriano is currently in France where he is reportedly close to signing a contract with second division club Le Havre.
Once considered one of the game's best strikers, Adriano has been beset by injuries and personal problems for most of his career. He has not played since being released by Brazilian club Atletico Paranense in April.
