Former Brazil striker Adriano has sparked fresh reports of a return to European football by sending a Twitter message to his "new fans" at French club La Havre.
The 32-year-old, who has not played regular football since 2010, has been in talks with the second division side since October, reports Xinhua.
"Merry Christmas to my new fans at Le Havre. I am very happy to join you for a new sporting challenge," the former Brazil striker wrote on twitter.
The message prompted local newspaper O Globo to report that the former Brazil striker is set to join La Havre in the January transfer window.
The Normandy outfit are currently 11th in Ligue 2 with 23 points from 18 matches.
Adriano has been beset by injuries and personal problems since ending a successful five-year spell at Italy's Internazionale in 2009.
He has 27 goals from 48 matches for Brazil, and was the Selecao's top scorer in their 2004 Copa America and 2005 Confederations Cup triumphs.
