Advocate Ashok Aggarwal, a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national executive, Tuesday resigned from the post and the party.

Aggarwal who has been associated with the party since 2012, said he joined hands with the AAP because he though that it stood for "strong principles to benefit the last man in the society".

"...lately things seem to have changed and the objectives and goals that it (the AAP) was created are getting lost. The movement seems to have become emotionless, causing doubts in the mind of people and even those like me, who are today feeling that the party is functioning like a private limited company," Aggarwal said in a letter to party chief Arvind Kejriwal.

Raising concerns over the party's claims of getting justice for those that it intended to work for, Aggarwal said: "The connect with the Aam Aadmi Party is on the wane and a group of elite individuals is promoted to take over the party. Aam aadmi vision has taken a back seat and what's on the mind of such individuals is personal projection at the cost of that very aam aadmi vision."

He added that the cause seems to be getting lost and a sense of frustration is cropping up, and that commitment seems to have no meaning.

Aggarwal said that he has not been able to do justice to those for whom he became a part of the movement.

He said no purpose is being served in continuing any further with the party.
