Agra Mayor Indrajeet Arya from the BJP and BSP legislator Chhote Lal Verma Tuesday joined the Samajwadi Party.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav welcomed the two leaders into the party.

Bahujan Samaj Party leader Verma from Fatehabad assembly constituency joined the Samajwadi Party along with a large number of followers, including over 100 pradhans and block-level members.

Verma in 2007 had left the Bharatiya Janata Party to contest the assembly election on a Samajwadi Party ticket. He joined the BSP shortly before the 2009 Lok Sabha election.
