The Trinamool Congress Monday staged a protest at the gate of the parliament building demanding BJP president Amit Shah should be named in the Sahara scam and also raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha.
Trinamool Congress members alleged that a red diary recovered from Sahara chief Subrata Roy names Amit Shah.
Roy was arrested Feb 28 and is still behind bars.
Raising the issue in the upper house as soon as it met for the day, Trinamool member Derek O'Brien demanded a discussion over the Central Bureau of Investigation's investigation against Amit Shah in the Sahara scam.
The members also flashed symbolic red diaries with Sahara written on them.
Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien asked the members to raise the issue after 11.30 a.m.
However, the other members protested over low procurement price of paddy and cotton corps, the scam issue could not be taken up.
At 12 noon, when the house met for question hour, Derek O'Brien again demanded a discussion, saying he has given a notice for suspension of the question hour.
"We want to raise an issue sir, very important issue. Name of Amit Shah appears in a red diary found from the Sahara chief," he said.
