Anti-IS coalition carries out 18 air raids in Iraq, Syria

Washington, May 12 (IANS/AKI) The US-led coalition has carried out nine air raids in Iraq and nine in Syria against Islamic State targets over the past 24 hours.

Six of the raids in Syria were against targets in the north-east province of al-Hasakah, where IS fighting positions, vehicles, heavy weapons, mortar positions and supply points were destroyed, US military said on Monday.

Other raids targeted the eastern Syrian city of Raqqa and the town of Kobane, near the Turkish border.

In Iraq, the coalition bombed Bayji, Falluja, Haditha, Mosul, Ramadi and Sinjar.
