Arms seized from four juveniles, three others in Delhi

Seven people, including four juvenile delinquents, carrying a cache of arms and ammunition were caught here, police said Thursday.

Vishal, 19, Jai Chand, 21, and Mahesh Gupta, 20, were arrested while their four juvenile associates were detained Wednesday from south Delhi's Ambedkar Nagar area.

"Following a tip-off, police challenged them and Vishal fired upon constable Vineet. All seven persons were caught after a brief struggle," said Deputy Commissioner of Police P. Karunakaran.

One .32 bore pistol, a loaded magazine, a spare magazine, five homemade loaded pistols and 28 live cartridges were recovered, he said.

The accused have past criminal records and were involved in cases of murder, robbery, snatching, theft and criminal assault.
