An abandoned backpack containing 22 unfinished pistols was seized from a local train at Sealdah railway station here, an official said on Wednesday.
"Our officials recovered 22 handmade pistols from an unattended bag in the Namkhana local on Tuesday night. The arms were seized while running a surveillance check in the empty trains on platform no 13 of the station's south section," said a Government Railway Police official.
"It was found out that all the guns were in unfinished condition and it is suspected that they were being transported to another location for the finishing touch," he added.
The police said the owner of the bag could not be identified till Wednesday evening.
