Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju Friday said his home state Arunachal Pradesh lacks basic facilities in border areas and there was need to make inhabitants stay there by improving amenities.
Rijiju, who is an MP from Arunachal West, interacted with Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and other senior state and defence officials on his first visit to the state since taking charge as minister, officials said.
He reviewed infrastructure development programmes in border areas and called for steps to improve telecom connectivity in the state.
In his interaction with the media, Rijiju said that the state lacks basic facilities especially in border areas.
Amid concerns about thinning of population in border areas due to inward migration, he said there was need to improve amenities in these areas.
