The Assam government will publish the political history of the post-Independence period of Assam in three volumes, namely, 1947-71, 1972-90, and 1991-2012, a statement said here Wednesday.
A recent meeting chaired by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi decided the book will be published in three parts.
Assam's eminent historian Rajen Saikia will be the general editor, and the Secretariat Administration Department (Archives) will act as the nodal department, with its principal secretary functioning as the coordinator of the project.
The project cell will function from the Directorate of Archives at Dispur, the statement said.
The Assam government earlier published a political history of the state, covering the period 1826-1947 in three volumes.
