Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo on Tuesday announced that the capital football club has reached an agreement to renew the contract of midfielder Gabi Fernandez as his current contract ends in 2017.
Cerezo told Cadena Ser radio, which aired from the Vicente Calderon stadium, that an agreement was reached with Gabi to continue at Atletico Madrid, reports Efe.
The Atletico skipper also participated in the programme, confirming that he already had an agreement with the club.
Gabi, 33, said that as long as he is able to perform at the level required at Atletico he will remain at the Madrid club.
