The Pakistani government and the Taliban's negotiators for peace talks Friday called upon the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan to end arbitrary activities and ensure implementation of peace in the country.

A joint statement issued after a meeting of the government and Taliban's negotiators expressed concern over the recent terror attacks in the country. It reiterated that violence would not only hamper the dialogue process but halt it altogether, reported Dawn online.

The meeting between the two sides was held here.

During the meeting, the government's committee demanded an immediate end to such attacks.

Irfan Siddiqui, chief of the four-member government committee, said the purpose of holding dialogue was to restore peace in the country.

The Taliban's committee also appealed against creating a provocative situation.

Maulana Samiul Haq and Maulana Yousuf were representing the Taliban's committee.
