The unemployment rate in Austria declined 4.6 per cent year-on-year for October, the Social Affairs Ministry said.
This equates to 393,029 people in the country presently registered as jobless, Xinhua news agency reported.
The number of non-self-employed persons increased by 65,000 compared to October of last year, the ministry report on Thursday stated, while the number of available job positions at the Public Employment Service (AMS) is currently over 59,000, a 44.5 per cent year-on-year increase.
The unemployment drop was seen across all states in the country other than Vorarlberg, where a slight 0.3 per cent increase was recorded.
Also notable in the new figures was a 0.7 per cent decline in unemployment for persons aged 50 and over.
