Bangalore to host sports conference

The Malleswaram Ladies' Association First Grade College for Women will host the UGC-sponsored two-day National Conference on Lifestyle Management and Wellness through physical activities, yoga, recreation and sports Feb 14 and 15.

While stress management and a healthy lifestyle is one of the major topics that will be covered during the conference, several other topics will also be covered.

The major topics include Practical Implications of Sports for Health Programming, Wellness through Lifestyle Management, Sport and Physical Activity for Health Promotion and Weight Management, Knowledge of Doping and Nutrition Intervention in Sports Training, School Health Programme, Sports Marketing, Technology in the field of Sports and Lifestyle Management, Job Opportunities in the field of Sport and Sport Management.

Several research papers will be presented by Physical Education Directors and research scholars from prominent universities and colleges from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

So far, more than 50 delegates have registered for the conference and the total research papers presented amounts to 91.

Moreover, there will be an interactive session with the theme 'Challenges Faced by Sportspersons at the National and International Level' Feb 15.

This will be highly educational and interesting with prominent former sportspersons like Jude Felix, Vijay Lancy, Sachin S Belvadi, Niveditha Rajan, TR Balachandran, yoga expert KN Chandrashekar, Dr. Muni Reddy and Dr. Sundar Raj Urs sharing their expertise and experiences about how to tackle challenges particularly for Indians.

Belvadi will speak on Women and Sports and Lancy on Sports Marketing. Former India hockey captain M.P. Ganesh will be the guest of honour for the valedictory function.

Badminton legend Prakash Padukone will be the guest of honour for the inaugural function, during which Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor B. Thimme Gowda will be the chief guest.
