Rio de Janeiro, July 14 (IANS/EFE) Spanish football giants Barcelona are concerned with the health of Brazilian striker Neymar who is recuperating from a broken vertebrae sustained during the 2014 World Cup.
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu and sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta have expressed their concern about the injury that Neymar suffered during the clash against Colombia in the World Cup's quarter-finals, reports EFE.
"Doctors at Barcelona travelled to Brazil to see Neymar. Things are going well. In early August he will join the club. We wish him relaxation, which is very important for him. We are in constant contact with his family and advisers as he is a very important player for us," said Bartomeu at a press conference here.
Neymar suffered a vertebral fracture after a violent collision with Colombia's Camilo Zuniga.
"We have spoken to him and his family and he was very sad. He wanted to help his country and his team. He is young, there is a World Cup around the corner within four years, and surely Neymar will have a chance. Now, he is dedicated to Barcelona," the club president added.
