Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen has sustained a hamstring injury in his right leg and is to be sidelined in the upcoming La Liga clash against Real Sociedad, the Catalan club confirmed on Monday.
The Belgium international had to leave the pitch and was replaced by Gerard Pique after playing 30 minutes in his side's 5-4 defeat against Levante on Sunday, reports Efe.
"(Vermaelen) will miss the next match," Barcelona confirmed in a statement on its official web site.
Barcelona, which has already won the La Liga title, is set to host the last game of the season against Real Sociedad at Camp Nou on May 20.
