Benfica avenged their Portuguese Cup final loss to Vitoria de Guimaraes by edging the latter 1-0 in a league match here.
It was a very scrappy match at the Estadio da Luz here Sunday. The only moment to remember in the first half was a splendid pass from Enzo that gave Siqueira a chance to score but Douglas, Guimaraes goalkeeper, made a great save, reports Xinhua.
The second half started in the same fashion. Both teams found it hard to get a breakthrough.
Slowly but surely, Benfica started gaining a foothold in the match and attacked with more fervour.
Oscar Cardozo finally opened the scoring in the 73rd minute after Enzo Perez's low corner.
