A woman was crushed to death under a mini truck by the driver and his friend after she resisted their bid to abduct her in West Bengal's Hooghly district, police said on Saturday.
The victim has been identified as Jayanti Soren who worked in a factory.
According to the police complaint by her father, Jayanti and a friend were on their way home from the factory when the incident happened.
The accused duo, driving a light commercial vehicle, tried to pull Jayanti into the vehicle but when she resisted and tried to run away, the driver knocked her down and ran over her.
The duo managed to escape, and the police have seized the vehicle.
"We have ascertained the identity of the driver and the helper. A special team has been set up to nab the duo at the earliest," Superintendent of Police Pravin Tripathi said.
